An individualized assessment of damages is required, with due regard for awards made in other similar cases. Factors to consider in the assessment include: (a) the age of the plaintiff; (b) the nature of the injury; (c) the severity and duration of the pain; (d) disability; (e) emotional suffering; (f) loss or impairment of life; (g) impairment of family, marital, and social relationships; (h) impairment of physical and mental abilities; (i) loss of lifestyle; and (j) the plaintiff’s stoicism: Stapley v.
