The authorities cited by the defendant and the crown dictate a range of sentence for similar offences from probation to twenty-four months custody. The circumstances of the offence and the offender are as varied as the penalties imposed. In all cases a sentence must be tailored to the particular circumstances facing the court; however, in a youth sentencing this is clearly the paramount concern. I have only to refer to the above quoted passages from Regina v. J.J.M., supra as authority for this proposition.
