Regina v. Dawydiuk, 2010 BCCA 411, is a decision upholding the imposition of an 18-month jail sentence for assault with a weapon, being a motor vehicle; criminal negligence causing bodily harm; and failure to stop at the scene of an accident. The accused had become involved in an altercation outside a bar as a result of his earlier behaviour toward some females inside the bar. There were a number of people on the sidewalk who had been involved in the altercation or who had watched it.
