What is the standard of care for a specialist?

Alberta, Canada

The following excerpt is from Nattrass v. Weber, 2008 ABQB 259 (CanLII):

A specialist is expected to possess and demonstrate a greater degree of skill in his particular field than a general practitioner: ter Neuzen at para. 33. While greater skills are expected of a specialist, the standard is not perfection: Wilson v. Swanson, 1956 CanLII 1 (SCC), [1956] S.C.R. 804 at para. 43.
