If a person works under a void or unenforceable contract and if his services are accepted by his employer, the employer cannot avoid the obligation to pay reasonable remuneration for services rendered. It was so held in the leading case of Deglman v. Guaranty Trust Co. of Canada et al., 1954 CanLII 2 (SCC), [1954] 3 D.L.R. 785, [1954] S.C.R. 725.
