How has the Court considered the contribution made by one party to the other's benefit?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Aujla v. Kaila, 2010 BCSC 1739 (CanLII):

Finally, I consider it relevant that each party’s contribution was made in the context of what is “quintessentially a family arrangement” (see Skender v. Skender, 2006 BCCA 162 at para. 11). No doubt the extended family lived as a family, supporting each other, contributing to family needs as they arose, fixing something if it needed fixing. Each member of the family contributed to the family’s benefit, as they could.

As is well known, an unjust enrichment requires an enrichment, a corresponding deprivation and the absence of a juristic reason for the enrichment: Peter v. Bedlow, 1993 CanLII 126 (SCC), [1993] 1 S.C.R. 980.
