Everyone who aids or abets a person in the commission of an offence is as guilty as the person who commits the actual criminal act. (R v. Dunlop, 1979 CanLII 20 (SCC), [1979] 2 S.C.R. 881). While the terms “aid” and “abet” are often used together in determining whether a person is a party to an offence, they are separate concepts.
