What is the range of conditional sentences for smoking marijuana near a school playground?

In R v. Parsons (1999), 1999 NSCA 156 (CanLII), 180 N.S.R. (2d) 281 (N.S.C.A.), the Accused was observed passing a marijuana cigarette among two other young people on the sidewalk adjacent to school grounds. He was 19 years old, lived with his parents and had no prior record. He pled guilty to charges of trafficking and possession. He was sentenced at trial to a one year conditional sentence and on Appeal it was varied to a six month conditional sentence. In that case there was only the sharing of one cigarette, a circumstance less serious than the quantity of marijuana found in this case.
