Smith v. Inglis is not a case about reasonably foreseeable intermediate inspection. The refrigerator was defective when it was released by the manufacturer, at which time there was no reasonable probability of an intermediate examination that would have detected the defectively-installed capillary tube. It was thus foreseeable that the ultimate consumer could use and be harmed by the defective product. Therefore, Smith fell within the scope of the manufacturer’s duty.
