Can a married couple live separate and apart while still occupying the same residence?

Nova Scotia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Blue v. Blue, 2006 NSSC 369 (CanLII):

It is possible to conclude that a married couple are living separate and apart while still occupying the same residence. As noted in Taylor v. Taylor, supra, courts have provided criteria/factors to be examined when considering the establishment of a date of separation prior to a couple living in separate residences. Lack of sexual relations or extramarital relations are factors to be considered but are not, of themselves, determinative that a separation has taken place.
