A reprimand is the usual penalty in summary hearings where a licensee has no discipline history and has completed the response to the Law Society before the summary hearing: Law Society of Upper Canada v. Thatcher, 2016 ONLSTH 63 at para. 5.
An application will be converted into an invitation to attend and dismissed under s. 36 of the Act only in exceptional circumstances: see Law Society of Upper Canada v. James, 2017 ONLSTA 16 at para. 89.
