The Ontario Superior Court of Justice addressed the question of privilege applying to statements made during the course of proceedings in a legislative body. In Ontario v. Rothmans Inc., 2014 ONSC 3382, at para. 15, the court confirmed, “it is well-established that statements made by a person during the course of parliamentary proceedings cannot be used against the person in a civil action.”
