On appeal from the denial of a motion for acquittal, the reviewing court applies the same standard for reviewing the evidence as the trial court [153 Cal.App.3d 810] did. That standard is the substantial evidence rule. (People v. Wong (1973) 35 Cal.App.3d 812, 111 Cal.Rptr. 314.)
