Among the factors that can influence the amount of the award are the age of the plaintiff, the nature of the injury, the severity and duration of the pain, and the degree of disability, emotional suffering and impairment of life experienced by the plaintiff, including impairment of their important relationships and lifestyle pursuits: Stapley v. Hejslet, 2006 BCCA 34, at para. 46.
