What constitutes negligent misrepresentation of information?

Canada (Federal), Canada

The following excerpt is from Cuni v. Canada (Citizenship and Immigration), 2009 FC 1024 (CanLII):

Sometimes, as in this case, we are provided with incorrect information upon which we act. In MacKenzie v. Canada (Attorney General) 2007 FC 481, 2007 FCJ No 645, 311 FTR 157 I had occasion to refer to negligent misrepresentation.
