The employee’s duty is one owed to themselves, to act reasonably in their own interest to maintain their income and position in their industry, trade, or profession. The former employer does not have the right to expect that the former employee will accept lower paying alternative employment and then sue for the difference between what they make in that job and what they would have received as notice.
