Can a court impute additional income to a spouse who unreasonably deducts expenses for child support purposes?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from N.R.G. v. G.R.G., 2015 BCSC 1062 (CanLII):

As indicated above, s. 19 of the Child Support Guidelines permits the court to impute additional income to any spouse who “unreasonably deducts expenses”. In that regard reasonableness of any particular expense deduction is not governed solely by its permissibility under the Income Tax Act. Reasonableness must be based on a sound evidentiary foundation: Egan v. Egan, 2002 BCCA 275.
