The issue is whether or not mental impairments suffered by the plaintiff are connected with the motor vehicle accident, i.e. whether or not the motor vehicle accident materially contributed to the major mood disorder of the plaintiff arising subsequent to the motor vehicle accident (see Athey v. Leonati 1996 CanLII 183 (SCC), [1996] 3 S.C.R. 458).
