When a jury asks a question during deliberations, the trial court must respond by informing the jury on the desired points of law. ( 1138.)1 The court has discretion to respond by referring the jury to the original instructions, if they are full and complete, or by providing additional explanation. (People v. Eid (2010) 187 Cal.App.4th 859, 881-882.)
