9. Under the more stringent federal standard of review set out in Chapman v. California (1967) 386 U.S. 18, 22-24 (Chapman), we must find that the claimed error was harmless beyond a reasonable doubt. Under the more lenient state standard in People v. Watson (1956) 46 Cal.2d 818, 836, however, we ask only if it is reasonably probable that a result more favorable to the appealing party would have been reached in the absence of the error.
