What is the standard of review for abuse of discretion in adoption cases?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Toledo, B219800 (Cal. App. 2011):

We review any ruling on the admissibility of evidence for abuse of discretion. (People v. Guerra (2006) 37 Cal.4th 1067, 1113.) This standard of review applies to a trial court's determination of the admissibility of an adoptive admission (People v. Edwards (1991) 54 Cal.3d 787, 820), its relevance, and whether the evidence is unduly prejudicial within the meaning of Evidence Code section 352 (People v. Rodrigues, supra, 8 Cal.4th at p. 1124).
