What is the record of arguments raised for the first time in appellant's reply brief that counsel was not prepared to cross-examine any witness?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Ramirez, B267516 (Cal. App. 2016):

16. In his reply brief, appellant argues for the first time that his counsel "was not prepared to cross-examine any witness." We need not address arguments raised for the first time in the reply brief. (City of Merced v. American Motorists Ins. Co. (2005) 126 Cal.App.4th 1316, 1328-1329; Reichardt v. Hoffman (1997) 52 Cal.App.4th 754, 764.) In any event, the record contradicts this assertion.
