The trial court acts as a "gatekeeper" and has discretion to award damages within the bounds of those pled in the complaint. (See Heidary v. Yadollahi (2002) 99 Cal.App.4th 857, 865, 868.) The court here did not abuse its broad discretion in awarding damages.2
The judgment is affirmed.
