In JKL v. The State of Western Australia [2012] WASCA 215, the offender pleaded guilty to numerous burglary and theft offences as well as a single arson offence. The arson offence involved setting fire to a car stolen during a burglary. The offender was twenty-one years of age and had no relevant prior convictions. On appeal the sentence for the arson offence was reduced from four years to three years imprisonment.
