I am reminded that the standard of care is not a standard of perfection. A physician must possess and use “that reasonable degree of learning and skill ordinarily possessed by practitioners in similar communities in similar cases” (Wilson v. Swanson, (1956) 1956 CanLII 1 (SCC), 5 D.L.R. (2d) 113 (S.C.C.)).
