What is the effect on a family doctor's obligation to do a follow-up for a patient?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Kruk v. Ho, 2009 BCSC 1418 (CanLII):

Under the circumstances of this case, the requirement on a family doctor to do a follow-up ends when the patient, of his own volition, transfers doctors, preferring a doctor closer to his new home. This is different from the situation in Stell v. Obedkoff, cited by counsel for the plaintiff.
