On a preliminary application, the plaintiff sought a declaration that the defendant was not entitled to represent himself personally in the action. The Master granted the application, concluding that the issue was governed by D.R. MacLeod Law Corp v. ICBC, 2000 BCCA 268. In that case McEachern C.J.B.C. (as he then was), declined to hear a self-represented lawyer on an appeal.
