Bourque, 1974 CanLII 191 (SCC), [1975] 2 S.C.R. 739, at p. 747, the court noted that such an announcement should consist of: “(i) notice of presence by knocking or ringing the door bell, (ii) notice of authority, by identifying themselves as law enforcement officers and (iii) notice of purpose, by stating a lawful reason for entry”.
