What factors will be considered in determining variation order of support in a variation order case?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Finch v Finch, 2016 ONSC 3493 (CanLII):

The final factor to be considered is self-sufficiency. Self-sufficiency is where the length of the marriage comes into the equation. It is to be noted that the length of the marriage itself is not a factor to be taken into account in a variation order of support. However the length of the marriage and the recipient’s role undertaken during marriage is related to self-sufficiency: see Fisher v. Fisher at para. 54 and 55.
