In Coupland v. Hardingham, 3 Camp. 397, Lord Ellen-borough held to the same effect: “As soon as the defendant took possession of the premises he was bound to guard against the danger to which the public had been before exposed, and liable for the consequence of neglecting so to do, in the same manner as if he himself had originated the nuisance.”
