One of the leading cases from this court on the issue of a stepparent’s continuing duty to contribute is Russenberger v. Rebagliati (2000), 5 R.F.L. (5th) 130, 2000 BCSC 82. In that case, after considering s. 5 of the Guidelines, Preston J. concluded that the circumstances did not support a long-term child support obligation and that the stepparent had already satisfied his child support obligations. Preston J. stated (at paras. 32-33):
