This decision arises from a disposition hearing pursuant to the Child Protection Act, R.S.P.E.I. 1988, C-5.1 (the “Act”). The respondents are the natural parents of the Child BBJ (the “Child”). The protection hearing proceeded in June of 2017. In a decision rendered in August of 2017 (DCP v. J.B. and D.J., 2017 PESC 16 (CanLII)), I found that the Child was in need of protection. Subsequent to the protection decision, legal counsel was appointed for the Child pursuant to s. 34(1)(b) of the Act.
