Northwest Territories, Canada

The following excerpt is from Portman v Government of the Northwest Territories and Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada, 2020 CanLII 19009 (NT HRAP):

In Cote v. Manitoba,[13] the adjudicator was considering an individual complaint of discrimination in the area of employment in relation to parental leave benefits available to adoptive fathers and mothers. The adjudicator added the complainant’s union as a party. In doing so, the adjudicator focused on potential remedy, and accepted the respondent’s submissions that any remedy awarded in the case may involve the union.
