What is the scope of the court's discretion to order production of documents under Rule 7-1(17)?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Taylor v. Cooper, 2013 BCSC 2073 (CanLII):

Rule 7-1(17) provides that the court may order production of documents in the manner it considers appropriate. This rule was considered by Williams J. in Nikolic v. Olson, 2011 BCSC 125. At paras. 23 through 25 he confirmed the court has a broad discretion under Rule 7-1(17) to order the production of documents in a manner that seeks to do justice between the parties, balancing their interests fairly and having regard for the object of the Rules.
