In Purssell v. Coast Mountains School District No. 82 2004 BCSC 269, the petitioners challenged a decision of a school board to adopt a four-day school week. Pitfield J. said the board did not adhere to statutory requirements and its decision was therefore made without jurisdiction. However, he exercised discretion under s. 8 to refuse relief because too much time had passed, the change had already gone into effect and reversal would be overly disruptive.
