Is loss of housekeeping capacity a factor in determining damages?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Dunn v Heise, 2021 BCSC 754 (CanLII):

In Kim v. Lin, 2018 BCCA 77 at para. 33, Chief Justice Bauman explained that where the plaintiff has suffered a true loss of capacity, loss of housekeeping capacity may be compensated with a pecuniary award; however, where the loss is “more in keeping with loss of amenities, or increased pain and suffering”, the award should be factored into an award for non-pecuniary damages.
