Similarly, Mendoza's narrow holding does not apply here. As we have explained, the mental state of believing it is necessary to act in self-defense does not involve the "intent to do some further act or achieve some additional consequence." ( People v. Atkins , supra , 25 Cal.4th at p. 93, 104 Cal.Rptr.2d 738, 18 P.3d 660.) It is not a required specific intent under section 29.4.
