Can a custodial parent request an increase in the Child Support Guidelines?

Manitoba, Canada

The following excerpt is from Eckert v. Eckert, 2018 MBQB 117 (CanLII):

Some case law where a custodial parent has requested an increase in the CSG, suggests that the plea of undue hardship will be rejected if there are no exceptional circumstances such as illness, disability, debt or unexpected expenses associated with the custodial role (Suian v. Suian, 2002 BCSC 902). Several cases have noted that successful pleas for an increase in the amount over and above the CSG will be rare (see Saby v. MacIntosh, 2002 BCSC 1144).
