A conspiracy is simply an agreement to pursue an unlawful object or to pursue a lawful object through unlawful means. The essence of criminal conspiracy is the proof of an agreement (R. v. Cotroni; Papalia v. R., 1979 CanLII 38 (SCC), [1979] 2 S.C.R. 256, 45 C.C.C. (2d) 1 (S.C.C.)).
