What is the test for a motion to overturn a judgment in a personal injury case?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from Kaplan v. Wickes, G055520 (Cal. App. 2019):

evidence and reasonable inferences supporting the judgment and disregard contrary evidence and inferences. (Howard v. Owens Corning (1999) 72 Cal.App.4th 621, 631.) The test is whether the record contains substantial evidence in favor of the respondent, and "[i]f this 'substantial' evidence is present, no matter how slight it may appear in comparison with the contradictory evidence, the judgment must be upheld."
