1 This circuit has not established the standard of review of a district court's refusal to give a requested jury instruction. See United States v. Slaughter, 891 F.2d 691, 699 (9th Cir.1989). We need not resolve that issue here, however, because whether reviewed de novo or for abuse of discretion, the district court's action was proper.
