Further, the trial court's inquiry was reasonable under the circumstances. In People v. Proctor (1992) 4 Cal.4th 499, 538, 15 Cal.Rptr.2d 340, 842 P.2d 1100, the jury informed the trial court that they had reached an impasse in their deliberations and asked for further instructions.
