The following excerpt is from Young v. Haines, 226 Cal.Rptr. 547, 41 Cal.3d 883, 718 P.2d 909 (Cal. 1986):
The third and fourth sentences by their terms do apply specifically to minors. They contain some provisions which are inconsistent with the general provisions of the first two sentences. As to those provisions which are truly inconsistent, the principle applies that specific statutory provisions relating to a particular subject will govern, as against general provisions, in matters concerning that subject.
