1 All the testimony of which appellant complains was in response to defense counsel's vigorous pursuit throughout the trial of a potentially meritorious defense based on alleged discrepancies and inaccuracies in various police reports. Because defense counsel's line of questioning had a rational tactical purpose, appellant had adequate assistance of counsel. (See People v.
