A number of authorities discussed the valuation date in terms of Family Relations Act proceedings with emphasis on the date of trial being the most appropriate date. Since Blackett v. Blackett (1989), 1989 CanLII 239 (BC CA), 22 R.F.L. (3d) 337, and the application of s. 65 and s. 66 of the Family Relations Act, the courts are directed to the trial date being the date that a vested asset interest is taken away with payment not until trial.
