When will a motion judge apply the same law to a property related claim and a support claim?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Knowles v. Lindstrom, 2014 ONCA 116 (CanLII):

I would add that in considering the choice of law, I think it is relevant that the property-related claim and the support claim are closely connected. The determination of the property claim could affect the outcome of the support claim: see Fisher v. Fisher (2008), 2008 ONCA 11 (CanLII), 88 O.R. (3d) 241, at para. 53. The interrelationship of the two claims is a further reason for applying the same law to both. The motion judge did not err in doing so. VI
