I concur with the comments of Anderson J. in Margolese v. Margolese, that a long marriage should be regarded as a partnership and that it would be a mistake to attempt to calculate the spouse's respective contributions too finely. In that case, however, the partnership subsisted until shortly before trial. Where, as in the case before me, the partnership had substantially broken down many years before trial, the diminished contribution of the former partner to assets acquired thereafter should be taken into account.
