What is an officer's obligation to respond fully when asked for information that qualifies his answer?

Alberta, Canada

The following excerpt is from Western Canadian Place Ltd. v. Con-Force Products Ltd., 1996 CanLII 10391 (AB QB):

An officer has an obligation to respond fully. If, after informing himself, he has information which qualifies his answer - in the sense of being contrary to or inconsistent with the answers already given - then he is obliged, if asked, to give that qualification. If he is not asked for the qualification, then his right to impose that qualification upon his answer is dealt with by the decisions in Esso v. Stearns.
