I have elsewhere remarked on the impact of poor mental health in permanent care applications. Parents whose poor mental health puts their children at risk and who do not seek needed treatment may be deprived of their children: Minister of Community Services v. S.C. and M.S., 2017 NSSC 336, paragraph 39. The real issue is whether the untreated mental health condition causes the children to be at risk.
