Is a plaintiff required to prove there is a real and substantial possibility that he will lose income in the future?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Erwin v. Buhler, 2017 BCSC 362 (CanLII):

The defendant argued that the plaintiff was obliged to prove there was a real and substantial possibility he would lose income in the future. The defendant contends that it is insufficient to show that the plaintiff “may include be less capable in certain aspects of his or her employment”. Such a finding is too speculative and would not equate to a finding of a real possibility. See Kim v. Morier, 2014 BCCA 63 at para 8.
